Annual Repertoire Booklet
Repertoire Booklet Visual Concept | Print | Editorial
2022
The Israeli Hour Theatre for Children and Youth is one of Israel’s leading children’s theatres. As their in-house designer, I was responsible for a wide range of visual projects across several seasons, including developing the annual visual identity.
For the 2022–2023 repertoire booklet, the theatre’s director requested a clear visual separation between different categories of performances: new productions, long-running shows, and productions aimed at different age groups. He also instructed that new productions receive full-page layouts, while continuing shows would share a page.
A major challenge in designing the booklet was the large amount of text the client wanted to include, which left little room for the production photos that typically anchor the layout visually.
To meet the theatre’s request for clear differentiation between sections, I created a colour-coded system, assigning each section its own dominant colour. These bold tones reflected the theatre’s vibrant spirit and helped make the booklet intuitive for the target audience, staff members responsible for selecting cultural programming for schools, to navigate the booklet quickly and intuitively.
For the central visual motif, I designed rounded-corner frames for the production photos, echoing the physical frame of the stage. These frames extended beyond the photos themselves and continued as a recurring graphic element throughout the booklet, creating visual continuity from page to page.
Together, these decisions allowed the booklet to present extensive information while maintaining clarity, continuity, and a vibrant aesthetic that reflects the theatre’s identity.
