2020
The Israeli Hour Theatre for Children and Youth is one of Israel’s leading children’s theatres. As their in-house designer, I was responsible for a variety of visual projects across multiple seasons. In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic created an urgent operational challenge for the theatre: finding a way to continue delivering valuable cultural programming without in-person events.
The Covid-19 Project was the theatre’s creative solution. Instead of stage productions, the theatre’s actors hosted virtual masterclasses on Zoom for kindergarten and school students. Unlike previous promotional materials I designed for full theatre productions, each piece in this series had to spotlight an individual artist and highlight their personal creative world.
Because these masterclasses offered students a glimpse into the artists’ personal lives and craft, I developed a design concept centered around bold, thick frames—resembling photo frames that capture moments from the artists’ day-to-day world. This visual approach created an immediate, intimate connection between the audience and the performer.
Each masterclass also received its own dedicated colour, drawn from one of the images used in the design. The palette was intentionally bright and lively, reflecting both the nature of the events and their young target audience.
This project required a shift from promoting productions to celebrating individual artists, and the resulting design language captured that change with clarity and energy.
